Upcoming Teachings
with Khenchen Lama Rinpoche Time: 17 April to 5 June, Tuesdays, 6:30 p.m. to 7:45 p.m. Location: Quaker House, Dean Street, Bangor, LL57 1UR Suggested donation: £3-£5 per session (all welcome) Introduction to Tibetan Yoga will integrate mind training with gentle stretches, breathing practices and mantra recitation. This combination of practices builds on traditional yoga training in the Tibetan Buddhist tradition. This course is suitable for beginners to meditation and yoga, but can enrich practice of meditators and yoga practitioners at any level. The eight-week course will introduce students to the Tibetan yoga of body, speech and mind. The body yoga improves functioning of the physical body as well as inner energy system of the body for better physical and mental health. The yoga of speech refines the 'wind' of breath and is closely related to better functioning of the inner energies. Tibetan yoga of mind uses mediation training to overcome 'bad habits' of thinking and to cultivate universal loving kindness and compassion coupled with true wisdom. All three kinds of yoga work together to enhance the effects of the practice. For example, breathing exercises lead to improved functioning of the body and calm down the mind at the same time. Similarly, body yoga helps the practitioner to reduce excessive thinking and improves focus in meditation. The yoga of mind is the core of the practice - where there is healthy mind proper breathing and the health of the physical body naturally develop as well. We recommend you to wear comfortable clothing that will not restrict your movement. |
